About the Event
Bluegrass band Mile Twelve (Boston) teams up with Roots band Low Lily (Vermont) for a double bill that will knock your socks off!
Both bands formed in 2014 and grew out of the thriving Boston acoustic music scene. Both have toured extensively for the past four years, captivating audiences at festivals and halls throughout the US and around the world. Between Mile Twelve’s updated bluegrass aesthetic and Low Lily's modern approach to roots music, the sounds of the evening will vary from the high-energy festival vibe to more lyrical moments, and there may be a few surprises in store as well!
Mile Twelve is a fresh, hard driving young band beautifully walking the line between original and traditional bluegrass. Since their formation in the fall of 2014, Mile Twelve has quickly been on the rise. They’ve performed extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia and Japan, including sets at major festivals such as Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, FreshGrass Festival, Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival, and Joe Val Bluegrass Festival. Their music is in rotation on the Bluegrass Junction Sirius XM channel, and their rendition of the Stanley Brothers classic “Our Last Goodbye” was featured on a Spotify "Fresh Bluegrass” playlist. The band was the winner of the 2017 Momentum Award by the International Bluegrass Music Association, and in October 2017 released their debut full-length record “Onwards”, produced by Stephen Mougin.
With a vocal blend that has been dubbed “outstanding” and “meticulous,” Low Lily’s cohesive sound comes naturally for musicians whose lives have been entwined on the road and onstage for almost two decades. Setting down roots in Brattleboro, Vermont, the band has crafted a signature sound which they have shared with enthusiastic audiences throughout North America and the UK, garnering two #1 songs on international folk radio and two New England Music Award nominations. Chosen as Falcon Ridge Folk Festival’s “Most Wanted Band” of 2016, Low Lily~ Liz Simmons (vocals and guitar), Flynn Cohen (vocals, guitar, and mandolin), and Lissa Schneckenburger (vocals and fiddle) with Corey DiMario (double bass)~ play acoustic music that is deeply rooted in tradition yet sounds refreshingly contemporary. General Admission Tickets $14 in advance, $16 at the door.
